Come to Me all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Mt 11:28

Jesus calls us to live our faith in adversity, for these are times of sanctification.  In the stretch of covid19, it is easy to fall victim to fear, doubt and worry, if not for ourselves, for other people, the bigger society. We, as servant leaders of the family,  and other leaders we are subjected to,  try our best, but if not rooted on godly Wisdom and Divine Will, our best can go astray and lie open to the attraction of the flesh, pride, power and control.

Jesus comes and offers us contrary values to lift us from our helplessness and concupiscence. A paradox of our earthly leaders, He comes not in military might, but as a humble and gentle servant, especially of the poor and the forgotten. But it’s the lowly and the vulnerable who notice Him first, for the able and the learned are full of themselves. He meets us in the persons in need, in the homeless ruled to stay home, or in the workers who lost their jobs.

In the course of disappointments, Jesus calls us to pursue living our faith in service of others, for He promises rewarding harvest. Nothing will be wasted as we make ourselves a fertile soil and gaze on our perfect God amidst our imperfection. St Paul in Romans 8:9 reminds us that we are not of the flesh, but in the Spirit, who gives life to our body, soul and spirit.

In discouragement, let us ask God for the gift of discernment like Solomon who was favored by God for He asked not for personal gain. Amidst the ground of anxiety, let us search for the Pearl of Great Prize, our Hidden Treasure in Jesus who says, My yoke is easy, and My burden light. Mt 11:30.
