As the Father loves me, so I also love you. John 59:3

Love is the essence of our Trinitarian God, that Jesus commands us to remain in His love and to love one another. As the Easter Shepherd, Jesus models love in servant leadership. His image as the Vine and we as His branches brings us to a deeper level. He dwells in us as long as we are free of sin. In us, He produces good in our mind, heart and action, that we bear much fruit. He has chosen us as friends.

By Ascension, the historical Jesus comes to a close, but not His mission, which is continued by the Holy Spirit in a new era. We celebrate Pentecost in a personal way by our baptism, as well as in communal way, when the mission of the Church launched, with the Immaculate Mary already intimate with the Spirit since Annunciation. Pope Benedict XVI affirmed that “there no Church without Pentecost and no Pentecost without the Virgin Mary” (Regina Coeli 5/20/2010). With the Spirit as the love between the Father and the Son, Christian love truly becomes the mirror of the Trinity’s love.
