“We must obey God rather than men.”
As disciples of Christ, we too like the Apostles, must show our unwavering dedication and commitment to our Lord, lest we become absorbed by the cares of this world to the detriment of our spiritual life. Jesus called and chose us, as he did His disciples, to proclaim and witness to others the immensity of God’s love. It is for us to take this “Great Commission” to heart and endeavor to respond to it zealously and boldly, without fear or anxiety. If we obey this command, we can change not only our spiritual lives but the people we spread the Good News to. Love is not optional for us, Christians. And we who have experienced the great love of the Father would definitely want to share His love with others.
In the Gospel, Jesus asked Peter, “Do you love me?” to which Peter answered, “Yes, Lord, You know that I love you”. And Jesus instructed him,
Feed My lambs… Tend My sheep… Feed My sheep.
After His last inquisition, He commanded Peter, “Follow Me.” We, as disciples in Serviam, also need to care for God’s people to demonstrate our response to His love. The personal action we take will ensure the welfare of Christ’s faithful, young and old, the ill and well, the weak and strong. And in the process, we can draw each member in Community into life, growth and maturity and towards temporal and spiritual fruitfulness.
My fellow Servant Leaders, let me just ask… Do you love Him? Do you love Him? Do you love Him?
